Coping With Anger in Others

Coping With Anger in Others

Anger is an emotional state and can be likened to an emotional disease. It also tends to be contagious as we know when we react unthinkingly and meet anger with our own. It is a very uncomfortable feeling to be angry, whether mildly or tempestuous or contained inwardly in a cold and calculating mood where accumulating energy builds up similar to a volcanic process. We are not proud of ourselves when we get angry because we know we need an anger management course and have displayed serious weakness of character. We don't like others when they are angry either as they present a possible threat of some kind to us.

One way of controlling our own anger is an anger management course, and we have to undertake to redirect emotional and mental energies differently, once we have become aware of the trigger factors that spark us off into such severe reactions.

It is proven that anger causes personal hurt to our bodies and nerves and other physiological body processes and organs. So each must learn to control any anger we may feel, through either rational reflection on the reasons why we lose control, or with an anger management course. Information is offered by many who can suggest what to do. It is up to us to discipline ourselves.

When other people cannot be ignored, but focus their anger upon us it is a different story, and we are offered an anger management course. Whether to react or not - how to react - whether to deal with the situation alone or get help - decisions about how serious a threat is involved regarding our safely or that of others - whether to walk away or whether that will inflame the situation and most important of all, it is likely that their anger will spark off some violent behavior that will be destructive and beyond your ability to control?

When we have regular contact with a person and think we know them well enough to judge if they can contain any outbreak of anger or not, it is sometimes easier but not always. It is difficult to completely trust someone who is capable of displaying intense anger. We should never be too complacent about being able to deal with an anger management course in a difficult situation.

Perhaps the worst factor we are faced with when a powerful person expresses anger is our own intimidation. We must face the fact that we are frightened by such outbursts that can create for us a decision between flight and fight. Between men this is an option. With women there is none and they must protect themselves without a challenge. If
intimidation becomes habitual, they are at risk of losing an anger management course. Worse still, they may even be capable of denial of the other person's error and assume an attitude common amongst women, that they are the ones at fault. This is sadly the case with those who become battered wives because they do not escape from a situation that is damaging to themselves and to their family.

There is no magic anger management course for dealing with angry people because of the many varieties of inter-relationships and circumstances.

However we must know how to get help when our own anger management course does not produce good results. Sometimes not reacting is helpful and the other person calms down. Sometimes a reaction from you is what the other person wants to see.

We cannot risk getting hurt in continuing to try to find an anger management course to deal with such a problem. It is certain that having to try to cope with other people's anger is not our responsibility and we should never have to suffer by it.

However, realistically there may be thousands of people intimidated by anger and particularly by anger and violence that can become really ugly when it is the outcome of drinking alcohol. But seen as an individual's option to take a anger management course, there is little lenience that should be given to excuse violent or hurtful behavior 'under the influence.'
